The Petone Rowing Club held its half-yearly, meeting in the boat-house on Monday evening, 'l'hc Captain (Mr. R. Moor) presided. The balance-sheet showed receipts to be .£2ll 18s. 3d., and expenditure <£20G Ills. Sd., giving a credit balance of ,C 5 4s. 7d. Fifteen new members have been elected since opening day, most or them being very promising oarsmen. Tho races that should havo taken place last evening will !><; rowed on Thursday next, weather permitting.
Dalgcty and Company, Ltd., in conjunction with the New Zealand I.oau and Mercantile Agency Company, Mil., will hold an auction sale at I'aliiieivston North ta-'monow of cows, .steers, calves, rape lambs, ewes, heifers, bullocks, and other lines. On behalf of 11 r. 1,. IT. M'Uardy, " lleaulieu," extra good shorthorn steers will also be offered. The ordinary weekly programme of the Missions to .Seamen will be suspended during tho visit of the (lent in favour of a special programme. To-day there will lie n picnic at 11.1.1 a.m., at which sports will be arranged and hospitality tendered. At 8 p.m. a conceit will be given by Hie .Misses Arthur, In which all members of the Hoyal and Mercantile Navies are warmly welcomed. To-morrow there will' bo a "home oirclv night," with music.
