' » SARGOOD CUP COMPETITION. The Sargood Cup Competition, open to teams from tho various rifle corps throughout tho Dominion, closed on Dccomber 81 .■ last. The returns from competing corps woro to have been sont in to tho Council of Deft r.co by January 15, but owing to tho fact that tho Cantorbury and Nelson districts 1 have, so far, failed to hand in their returns, the official announcement of tho results luvo been considerably delayed. The lists given hereunder are therefore, in a sense, incomplete. Assuming that, Canterbury and Notion did not enter .teams, tho Orepuki (Otago) Rifle Volunteers, with a total score of 268, jrill bo adjudgod to havo won tho Ctip. Tho tVanganui Rifles woro the runners-up' with 212 points, whilo tho Tarauaki Guards, with!.lßo points, camo tjiird. Tho Green Island Rifles ran the Taranaki Guards very close for tlio third place, their total score ' being 189 points. Thoir percentage, of hits to rounds fired was, however, 58.7, as against th? percentage. gained by their rivals, who mado 68.
