It is gratifying to know that- the. fame of at least ono Now Zealand woman has reached America and survived. The following appears in a recent issue of the "Daily News," Chicago:— "To settle a dispute between two New Zcalauders at present In Chicago, will you kindly give the name of the town in New; Zealand of which Mrs. Yates was Mayor? The two towns in dispute arc Onekunga of Auckland and Now Plymouth of Tonauaki. Tho dato would bo about thirteen'years ago. Slio was tho only ladv to occupy such a position certainly in Now Zealand, if not in tho world. I shall esteem it a favour if you can give mo the above information or put mo in tho way getting" some.
