COMMUNICATION WITH LIGHTHOUSES.
-'VV' " \ . Cabinet yesterday decided to .establish cable and. telegraphic communication between Elmslio Bay and Stephens Island across to D'Urvillo Island; also cablo communication bet woe n Centro Island (FOveaux Sounds) and tho mainland; and telegraphic communication to Puysegur point (South land). Lighthouses stand on each of these placcs, and tho Government's intention is that by connecting them up in this manner intimation several hours beforehand will be received of tho arrival of ships. On tho completion of tho connections, the Premier also intends to have daily weather reports from each place, and records of all steamers passing and re-passing.
