PROPOSED ROYAL COMMISSION. CONFERENCE OF DENTISTS. / . (bt telegraph—press association.) Auckland, January 6. Tho annual conferenco of the Now Zealand Dental Association was oponed to-day, under tho presidency of Dr. Herbert Cox, of Auckland, president of the Association The day was devoted to clinics and the discussion of various matters of interest to the profession,•
In tho evening a public meeting in coulicction with tho conference was held, and the chairman of tho Education Board (Mr. L. J. Bagnali) presided.
An address was delivered by Dr. Cox, in tli o course of which ho ■ referred Eo tho serious condition of things existing in Now Zealand and elsewhoro in respect to the tcoth of the people, especially tlioso of tho rising generation.' He advocated the setting up of a Royal' Commission by the British Government to inquire into tho causes of tha decay of teeth. In tho course of his remark# ho referred to tho good wofk now being dono by tho School of Dentistry at Otago University.
Speeches wero also delivered by Sir Maurice O'Rorko, Mr. Baume, TiI.P., Mr. W. H. Nowton (president of tho New Zealand bducation.il Institute), Mr. G. Knight (chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board), aud Dr. Robertson (chairman of tho honorary staff of the Auckland Hospital). 1
