The first-class sailing race-..was won by Freeman ■ and-Scanlon's Rose, with 'Wheater's.. Lark '.second and M'PhersonV Spray third. The first two; wero Westport boats, and the third a Groymouth one. "A few yards", separated the three .'placed boats. Tlio sccond-class sailing- race was won' by Wheatloy's "Shag, with M'Pherson's Spray second, and. Blake and Collins's Osprcy third. ' Protests were entered'against the first and second boats in the senior fours raco. The liawatiri'Club (Westport) entered two'crews, ono including three' of. the unbeaten crew that twice Won the New Zealand championship, and Bleliheirn aiid Nelson eacli entered a crew; ' ■ The' raco resolved itself into a struggle- botwecn the ICawatiri champions and Blonlicim', but'in their, keenness to make the most of»the current in tlio river tho crows fouled on several occasions, Blenheim being held responsible for tho first, and disqualified.' ' Tlio''raco" : was won by Kawatiri, with' Nelson, sscond. Blenheim led by two lengths for a-'time, then Kawatiri tick the lead, andkopt ahead.'. The Blenheim men wero : making a game.' light at tho' fmisli, when tho 'final foul occurred. They are appealing against the decision. Westport, Docomber 29. Tho Regatta Committee decided, at a mooting, last night, to adviso the Blenheim Club tliat, according to llulo 18 of, . the. Amateur Rowing Association,tlio judge's decision is final, ana therefore it could not- forward the appeal lodged against the Kawatiri's .win in Saturday's senior fours raco.
