SIR JOSEPH WARD IN AUCKLAND.
CONFERENCE WITH ADMIRAL FAWKES. ■ ' (BY TELEGRAPH— I'KESS ASSOCIATION.) . Auckland, December 26. Sir Joseph and Lady Ward arrived in Auckland on n short visit yesterday. Tho .principal object.of the visit is a conference botweon the Premier and Admiral Sir Wil,mot Fawkes regarding dofenco matters. Sir Joseph Ward has been invited by the. Admiral to return tp v Wellington by H.M.S. Powerful oil Saturday if arrangements will pormit the invitation to bo accepted. The Prime Minister stated that the matters on which ho was conferring with the Admiral were of a confidential nature. After leaving Auckland he will proceed South to fulfil a number, of engagements. From January 4 or 5 he will tak.e a few days' holiday, proceeding to Stowart Island. After the holidny he will make'a lengthened visit to Auckland.
