THE Y.M.C.A.'S NEW BUILDING.

' 'Good progress if being made with the new building of the Y.M.C.A. in Tipper Willis Street, • which it is expected :will bp opened in April. Subscriptions are also coming in slowly,but .surely to swell (ho amount collected "in 'the recent financial campaign. Already one can see that very spacious and convenient premises will he afforded for the Association's work when the 'new building is completed. The broad basement will contain the , dressing-room for- the gymnasium, just behind it on the ground-floor, and, further south; a space, for.howling alleys or pprhaps an inside, cricket'pitch. Behind this is the room 'for quiet, games, and a large,'storeroom, i The. gymnasium, which measures 65ft-.■ by.4oft., will obviously be a magnificent room for its purposes. A gallery will be erected for spectators, none of whom -will bn allowed to block the floor-space. An umisiially wide vestibule will stretch from the main entrance of the building; and at the far onrl of this will bo the inner and outer offices, from thelatter' of whirh an offircr bf the Scricty, -seated at- a counter, will he able to see everyone that , enters.- -Writing and reading and magazine rooms will also ho provided. On'the- first, floor will he a ball to hold about 250 'persons, .two. class-rooms, separated by a movable.'partition, and a dining-room. 40ft. square, with iip-to-date kitchen and scullery. On the "snViou'd floor will be a splendid, suite o'f boys' ropmr,,.w,ith admission by a separate entrance. .The rest of the second floor and the whole of the third floor will be occupied by'-forty-three , bedroom's , , some of which are already nearly finished.-. They are of very modern design, and will be let to young.men. The roof is flat', of T/irhncr asphalt, and will allow of gardens, games, and a promenade.
