Whilst working coal on the s.s. Waipori last night, a lumper named Donald M'Kenzio was struck on the head by a basket, and his neck dislocated. Carterton, December 17. A Maori girl, aged sixteen, at. Gladstone, swallowed a quantity of sheep dip. It was thought sho would not survive till medical aid was procured. A doctor was called, and after applying the usual remedies he held ,out hopes for the girl's recovery.
