Brewer (bow) by three lengths' The Wellington Musical Union will give a performance, on a big scale, of "Israel in ■Egypt," 011 Friday, December 20, in the Town Hall. The chorus has been largely augmented to meet the demands of this work, winch consists largely of double choruses. Tt also contains a splendid duet, for baritones, "The Lord is a Man of War," which will be. sung by Messrs. Harold Widdop and Ernest Parkes. " Israel in Egypt " is generally -conceded to: lie Handel's greatest oratorio. He intended the accompaniments to be rendered by a string orchestra, and organ, which he played himself. The Musical Union will, therefore, make use of the Town Hal! organ and its own string orchestra. Practices have been held twice a week for some considerable time past, and two full rehearsals have taken place m the Town Hall, when excellent, work was done. It is not often that so large a body of singers is got together in Wellington, nud, with the help of the great, organ, under Mr. L. F. Watkins, Mus.Bae.. an extremely fine performance may be confidently expected. The ninth annual concert of Mrs. Mueller's pupils will lv> given in,-Wesley Bfcll, i'aranaki Street, to-night. To-morroiv, at. two p.m., at the residence, No. 4 Ilawkestone Terrace, Messrs. J. '• 11. Bethune and Co., instructed by Mr. L. 13.
