Hastings, December 13. Mr. W. C. M'Cormiek, of Southland Road, has had a very narrow oscnpo from serious id juries as a result of an encounter with a stray bull. Tho animal was outside Miv M'Cormick's fence, pushing against and -injuring jt. Mr. M'Cormiek wont out to frighten it away, and in doing so threw a missilo at the bull, which immediately rushed him. Tho man tried to vault his gate, but failed, and the brute gored his leg rather severely, ■ besides inflicting ' some iiasty bruises on his chost. A dog. on tho premises was set on to the bull,, and was successful in distracting ,his attontion temporarily, during which timo Mr. M'Cormiek managed to escape from his' perilous position. The injured man was attended medically, and it was found necessary to pnti live stitches in the laceration. ' The patient is progressing Favourably.
