"THE FEATHER GANG" AGAIN,

The sentences imposed on the various mens bers of the "Feather Gang; , who appeared before the Magistrate's Court last week, do not appear to have had .the effect of damping the ardour of the _ youthful cracksmen, although several of them were ordered to be birched or'sent to Industrial Schools. The pplice lit on.the trail of members of the gang yesterday, and tho matter was.placed Jii thei hands of. Detective Cameron, who sucin bringing.four of the gang to book. -I wo ot the boys, whose ages rango from six yqars to eight- years, were among the offenders who faced the Magistrate last week. Ino youngsters-have admitted that they are guilty of the present charge of breaking into Messrs Stewart and Co.(s sawmill, in , Courtoliay llace, an entrance being offected by breaking two panels out of tho door with a piece of iron. The window of the office was broken, and- the office was■ransacked, the contents being littered all over 'the iloo'r A' number of electric'light, globes wore broken, and also the look of a cupboard. The boys also made their way into the sawmill proper, and did some minor damage there. The total damaco at Messrs. Stewart and Co.'s is estimated at about £2 10s. The youthful escapade ended with a visit to a shed in tho Union Company's premises, where the youngsters tried their hand at painting, and succeeded in daubing the walls most inartistically. Tho boys will probably be brought before the Magistrate to-day.
