Dec. 9, 10.7 p.m.) Stockholm, December 9. : King Oscar died quietly, whilo unconscious. The cause of death was the calcification of the cerebral (brain) and cardiac (heart) blood vessels. : Gustaf (Gustavus) tho Fifth has succeeded to the throno. Myers), immediately on learning tho news of the death of the King of Sweden, gavo orders for the hoisting of the flag at half-mast on the tower of tho municipal buildings, and at the same time sent, on behalf of the citizens of Auckland, an expression of his sympathy to the Vice-Consul for Sweden (Mr. Sydney Nathan). Mr. Nathan officially notified tho death of His Majesty to the consular body in Auckland, with tho consequonco that all the consulates wore flying their flags at half-mast during tho morning. Mr. Nathan also convoyed tho news, to His Excellency tho Governor. Flags will bo flown at half-mast at tho Town Hall and Municipal Offices in Wellington, to-day.
