In the draught breeding section three imported horses contested; in tho stallion class, four years and over, all 'the horses shown were the property of Taieri breeders. ' Tho winner was Mr. Patrick's Pride of Newton, a live-year old horso with a unique record. He started winning championships at two years old,, and has boon champion draught stallion three years in succession at the Otago Show, and' was also champion at tho Cliristchurch Exhibition and the Invercargill and Taieri Shows. Altogether he has more championships than any horso of the same age in New Zealand, and has. been unbeaten for two years. ,His only reverse was when he was beaten by a mare, fdr' the best type of draught horse. His "sirn .twice won the championship at the Highland Society's Show. Soire of his progeny have also been successful. Cobs ana ponies, in quality and number, fell below the standard of tho previous year. Tho carriage and_ hackney classes were poor, and competition in many sections was extremely weak. In hackney stallions tho judge hesi'tated to give any prize. Blood mares were also poor. .i' ■ -r Heavy rain has set in, which' will seriously affcct the attendance for People's Day at tho Show.
