' ' '. ' ——-4 ' Tho Kiwitea County council held its monthly meeting yesterday morning. There were present Councillors Uarnian (chairman), Short, Fowler, Morton, M'intyre, Hockley, and M'Noil. Mr. Carman was rc-elcctccl chairman. Correspondence was read from the District Road .Engineer, stating thut.£i;GU had been passed for tho Oroua River bridgo, Marton block; and from the Commissioner of Crown Lauds, stating that he is unable to recommend the vesting of section 5, block 9, Apiti, in the Council as a gravel reserve, as there was no metal on it. . Mr. J. R. M'Lcunan wroto as follows: — "I have approached you on moro than one occasion, and the Oroua Uounty Council on several occasions, with reference to tho low portion to Williams Road, this being the only outlet to my property in/ the lattor county, but so far without result. . . . The Engineer estimates that it would take not more than £60 to metal thirty-three chains, and, as 1 do not want to put in another winter like the last one, I am willing to contribute £40 towards tho cost of the work." It was resolved to have the work done at onco, Councillor Short ottering to contribute £10 towards tho cost.
