London, November 23. ■ Mr. Justice Kekewich, of tho Chancery Division of tho High Court, died aftor an operation for appendicitis.
SUICIDE IN PRISON.
Paris, November 24. Jean Francois Gallay, formerly a clerk employed by tho Comptoir National des Comptes of Paris, who was sentenced to soven years' imprisonment for stealing enormous sums, tho property of tho bank, has committed suicide. i
NO HOPE FOR ALFHILD'S SURVIVORS.
Hobart, November 25. Further search failed co discover any trace, of the missing crew- of the Swedish ship Alfhild, which was wrecked on tho west coast of Tasmania oil October 10, somo of the crew roaching safety in a boat, wliilo others wero loft on the shore without, food and shelter.

(Hec. Nov. 25, 9.50 p.m.) Pekin, November 25. The historic " Pekin' Gazette " has ceased to appear. It has been replaced by an excellent modern newspaper, named " Changchia Kuanpao," which deals with matters affecting the whole Empire.

New Yoijk, November 25. The second trial of tho millionaire, Harry Thaw, for the murder of the other millionaire, Stanford according t.) Thaw, had ruined and was still pursuing Thaw's wife —Mill begin on December 2.'
PRICES.OF .WOOL.
v Sydney, November 25. At tho wool sales business is dull, and thero wore large withdrawals. The best sorts about hold their own, but faultics were difficult to dispose of even at reduce:! prices. Compared with tho opening .saios of the season, best wools are now a halfpenny to a penny lower. Inferiors show :i proportionate decline.
ALLEGED FRAUD.
Berlin, November 24. Herr Moeller, head of tho Moeller Wax Company, which failed with liabilities of £450,(100 and assets £50,000, has been arrested on suspicion of fraudulent bankruptcy.
LOAN AND MERCANTILE.
London, November 25. After paying debenture interest and adding £58,000 to reserve, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company's report shows a credit balance of £0562. A dividend of 5 per cent, is declared, and £133 is carried forward. The directors report that a /lumber of properties realised above tho valuations of 1897, and it is proposed to transfer £100,000 of this surplus to tho capital reserve account. Tho directors announce that the trustees agrco to tho 'continuance of tho New Zealand Land Association as a separate company.
