Hislop, presiding. The meeting was called for the purpose of winding up the affairs of. the fund. ■The secretary.(Mr. Geo. Totigood)'read a report on the present condition of the-fund; Tho report stated that thoro appeared to be 111 complete record kept of lists .sent out to variuus persons aDd bodies, and,: consequently, tliero must be a number of lists,;M;ilL.antstaiHins.' Tho pre;»nt. position shows a total or ss. lid. received, which is lying at tho Bai'; of New Zealand to tho credit of. the fu"d. A sum of over JUOO, collected by" the railway servants, is now in the, hands' of trustees appointed for the purpose of administering the fund, and there, is little ;i doubt that- the amount will be shortly paid over to the national fund, making - the 'total amount for the fund XUGS ss. lid. Tho expenses comprise -tSO paid to the late , secretary, and jCW 10s. refunded to a lodgo. The 'advertising expenses wore very heavy,' amounting to JBIOO, but of this amount a number, of, newspapers agreed to forogo their accounts; ' Allowing fer all contingent expenses, it. is stated that an amount exceeding -£1000 will Bo available for the erection of a statue, and- this will be subsidised by the Government, who have undertaken to complete tho work;'-The report concludes Regret is expressed'that the amount subscribed is so small for tho national fund, but this is largely attributable to the fact that in most of the centres local, memorials are being erected in honour,of the deceased statesman." The following. Committee was set up to finally close the accounts Messrs. A. R. Hislop, J. H. B. Coates, J: D. Nathan, E. Arnold, E. J. Le Grove, and Geo. Toogood. Mr. S. Bise was anointed auditor. I
