SOUTH AFRICAN ASSOCIATION.
A -meeting of those interested in the formation of a South African Association was held iu the Te Aro Hotel last night. There was a good attendance, and Mr. G. Campbell occupied the. chair. The rules referring to the initiation of members having been passed, those present were admitted to membership. ,The complete rules we're thpri /read'' and passed. The objects of the Asso'ciitiorif are to bring South Africans in Wellington: into closer touch, and to mutually assist one another.; The' election of officers resulted as-; follows :Prcsident, Mr.- G. Campbell; Vice-President,..,Mr. T. . R. Pearson; Secretary, Mr. W, Bo.ck; Treasurer, Mr.. M. Maris; Committee, J(6s?rs. Pearson* Kenny, Allardyce, Wood,..Clint, 'Dix, Lewis,. Roberts,, Smith, Kirk, Gibson, and Marriott. , The. appointment of honbrar'y. auditors aiid trustees was held' over until the next meeting. It was decided' to' hold ' fortnightly meetings'.' A smoke concert is to. be' held" on: December 18. 'The following .were .constituted: an> Entertainment Committee to •• arrange ■ for the ■ function:—Messrs. Wood, Marriott," Clint,., Passmore, and Hawkes:,.: , .:, ■ The'. Secretary was authorised' to'' deal with the matter of the • Association's badge, which' is to contain the word "Springbok," and the letterß "S.A.A."
