SHOW CATALOGUES AND THEIR PRINTING.

The Masterton and Wairarapa P. and A. Association are in the happy position'of getting their show catalogues printed for nothing, and in addition they rccoive a premium on the job. This result is brought about through competition amongst the various printing and newspaper firms, who take up the business as a speculation, and are forced to undertake an active canvass for advertisements. ' Each association uoes very well out of the industry of the newspapers, and should be well From remarks passed by some members of the Masterton A. and P. Association at their meeting on Saturday, writes our Wairarapa correspondent, it appears, howover, that, they are not-'satisned. Tho exception was taken to the prices charged for uio covers of tho catalogues, and also to tho interleaving of advertisements through the book. Those who tako up tho responsibility of tendering for the printing of the catalogues havo to run tho work on business lines, otherwiso they would ioso money. Their sole gain is from advertisements and the sale of the books, and there is not a great margin of profit. If tho Association wishes its catalogue to bo free from obnoxious advertisements, it should conduct the printing itself. The cost would be about £50, but this perhaps would not weigh against tho satisfaction of turning out a production freo from blemish.
