ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Council was hold la6t night, there being present the Mayor'(Mr J. G. Harmen), and Councillors Lynneberg, Kiernaiv Fitzgerald, -Watson, Plimmer, and Apiin. . ; It was resolved that application be made to the Government for a revaluation of the borough. It was pointed out by Councillors that a number of large blocks assessed at the rate ot £125 per aero wero worth at least ,£4OO uer acre. ' l The clerk was instructed to write asking the Health Department to notify. the Council in respect to cases of infectious disease occurrins in die borough. b a W-ith reference to the claim of .£lO made by A. 11. bibson in connection with land dedicated on subdivision, counsel to the Municipal Association advised the Council that the claim was a valid one, and it was decided to offer ,£7 10s in full settlement, . The Department of Roads intimated that It would ,T?ree to thi> exemption of Victoria Road Jessie Street, and. a short blind road if the building line were set back 33ft. from the centre of the roail on each side, and to cue exemption of unnamed road, part of section in Harbour district, and unnamed road, part of section 5 Porirua, if. both were widened to 100 links. It was agreed to accept tho conditions. - The Engineer was instructed to bring down a report with reference to tho proposed household drainage scheme. for the congested; portions of, the North Ward-Crofton and Khandallah. • ■ .L'he rating area of tho 150 acres of land to be taken at Khandallah, and part of the Hutt County, for,a water-shed in connection with' a future water supply scheme, was defined. ' In accordance with notice, Councillor Watson movedi that the Engineer and Councillors jf the North Ward report «s to the probable uosl of a public hall, together with site, for that ward.
The special committee set up to. report on the probablo cost of a recreation ground for the borough, and a public hall for-Kniwarra, intimated that they had been unablo to corao to terms with property owners. On their suggestion the matter was held over until next meeting. ■ Accounts amounting to £389 13s. were' passed for payment.
