CRICKET.
WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of tho dolegatos of tlio Wellington Cricket Association was held in Batkin's rooms last evening, Mr. •■■A. P. Wiren occupying the chair. Tho principal business of tho evening was tho consideration of tho report of tho sub-committee of tho New Zealand Cricket Council re the qualification of players, which roport was published in our columns on Saturday last. After some discussion it was resolved that tho Association expresses its approval of the roport as furnished by the New Zealand Council. A further motion, moved by Mr. Luckie, was also carried as follows:—'"That in tho event of any legislation being brought forward dealing with lnterprovincial matches or Plunket Shield matches, this Association desiros to, sco these restricted to inter-as-sociation games." Mr. S. Jacobs moved to delete sub-section 5 of championship rule 4: "Provided that in the case of senior championship matches, at the end of tho first round, the four leading teams shall play semi-finals and a -final match, which lastmentioned match shall bo played to a finish, if possible, and the team winning such final match shall be declared tho winner of the senior championship. In the event of the final match not being played, the championship shall be awarded on points," and to substitute the following: "Provided that in the case of senior championship matches, at the end of the first round, the four leading toanis shall play a second round on the same conditions as tho first round, and the champion matches shall then be decided on the team winning the highest aggregate of points on the two rounds. In tho event of such round not being completed through lack of time or any other reason, the championship shallHe decided on the first round." The motion was lost.
Mr. Fanning, of-Clydo Quay School, who has taken an active part in arranging for tho visit of tho team of Now South Wales teachers to Now Zealand, has received a lotter from the Rotorua Cricket Association stating that tho Northern Association is quite agreeable to arrange a match for the visitors.
No Wednesday competition matches will bo played this afternoon, and consequently tho Basin Reserve will be open for practice as usual. ', According to private advice received, from Sydney, Whitting, a Sydney teacher 'likely to accompany the Now South Wales teachers team to New Zealand, has been included in one of tho trial New South Wales elevens. Tho player in question is a stock bowler for tho Balm'ain Club.
