Girls'. Realm .Guild. ; A meeting- of the Lady Plunkct Centre of tho Girls' Kcalm Guild was held yesterday afternoon at Government House, \ when be-; tweon 1 sixty and-seventy, members were present. 'Her Excellency Lady Plunket, Patroness of/ the" Guild, was present. .Miss Jililoen Ward, President of tho-Centra, presided. The, Hon. Kathleen Plunkot-explained, that, the object of the meeting was to decide what "work 'shoiild-bo done by the Guild. Itwas;to ha distinctly understood that tho rules of the Guild, precluded ..thorn from. : raising monoj , for any organised charity. .Their work must bo done individually.- They might visit hospitals; or -other charitable, institutions, anil they, might undertake the charge.of some individual case of need. There, were two such' cises requiring assistance; one of a little girl who had become deaf.and dumb as the result of an illnosa .in her-, infancy; the'other of a boy seven years of age who had lost the; sight of, one oye, and must not. learn .to read and write lest the sight of' tho other should also be lost.. Ho would require .sonic special education, and he,had not.parents to help'him.- It was-suggested that tho Guild, -should, take charge of the training of one of those children: :.,Miss Plnnket asked that separate committees should be formed.within the Guild to undertake different, branches of. work. The meeting decided , to raise funds for the. education ,of the boy as that was. thought'.to''bo:'the moro urgent- case, and committees were formed to.arrange for yisitiiig the hospitals and .homes, and for giyjng little concerts there Ifro'm time to time. Another committee, will arrange, for a dramatic, performance to >be given towards the end of November in aid of the. funds of the. Guild,, Miss' Nathan, 0f,77. Hobsoh Street, a member of the committee,,will' be glad'to receive magazines and papers to .send to the : dilforent- Homes..
