Crimes against morals are so rare in Ireland tliitt in tho western counties of Mayo, Leitrim, and Sligo, and also in Cavan, they wore fewer during tho year 190G than one offence per 100,000 of tho population. This fact is shown in the Blue-book on Irish criminal statistics just issued. Tho wholo range of indictable offences.was 0-165, which represents a'rate of only very little over two offoiices (2.) for every 1000 of tho population. The cases of drunkenness (77,262) were less numerous than in any of tho preceding ten years. The Royal Irish Constab~ ulary, numbering 9910, cost £1,322,332.
