Mr. Okcy has given notice to ask the Gqvornment "whether, in view of the considerables advance' in'the price'of; flour which is now becoming prohibitive, .they will pass, an urgent measure through thq House empowering them, to take the duty off, as suggested in a recent statement mado by tho Premier?" Mr. Lang (Manukau), in arguing against clauses in favour or married men with children, ' yesterday, told 'an ..in-, torcsting, yet testing anecdote. He said that in a.settlement at Kawhia, of tho nine sottlers wlij took up land all were young men engaged to bo married. They comprised tho settlement at the presont. timo, and, in their married state, wero all first-class farmers. Under the present proposals of the Government they would havo been excluded. Sir. Lang, appealed the Minister if this would not bo so, and would such legislation not bo deterimental to the advancement of the country. The Minister apparently saw tho point, and shortly afterwards, withdrew the Clause',' with tho object 'of ...amending it. ',
