The first annual Convention of tho Australasian Press Association was held to-day. Delegates'representing tho Press Association and the country Associations of Victoria, Now South Wales, Queensland, , South Australia, 'and Now Zealand wero prosont. . ■' It was decided to urgo tho formation of an Association in each State on the linos of the New South AValos Association, to fix a scalo of advertising charges, and to promote tho interests of members in relation to the cablo and tolegrapliic sorvicesj and other mattors of mutual concern. . There was a long discussion o na proposal to establish an independent cablo service. A committee was appointed to further discuss the project. It was resolved to urge the Federal Govornmont to invito twcnty-livo editors from Groat Britain, Canada, and Capo Colony to visit Australia at the espouse of tho Commonwealth. The opinion was expressed that this is one of the best ways •to advertise Australia.
