Methodist Circuit Alterations.
AN IMPORTANT MEETING. Specially important business was transacted at tlie quarterly meeting of the Taranaki Street Methodist circuit, which was also exceptionally well attended, between forty and fifty officebearers of the Church being present. The Methodist quarterly meetings, now in progress, are • tho :most 'important of the year, because they are meetings at which invitations are given to the ministers for tho following year. The question of supply for the coming year was'discussed by tho representatives of tho Taranaki Street circuit, and tho Rev. C. Porter was invited to remain a third year in charge of Thorndon. Tho imitation was accepted by Mr. Porter. The appointment for the Tafanaki Street station for next vrvr Lwas left entirely in tho hands of the conference.' A discussion nest took place on -the advisablcnoss of dividing the circuit, and it was agreed to recommend tho district' svnod that a new circuit bo cut off, comprising Thorndon, as the head portion, and the Wadestown property. The recommendation was carried'by a very large-majority. If it is endorsed by the district synod it will come before the Conference next March, which is the final court of• appeal. .' It was reported that owing to tho largo proportion of wot Sundays and other causes the finances of the circuit were not in quite so strong a condition as was usual, but there was no serious deficiency. Tho Sunday Schools and Christian Endeavour Societies were flourishing, and the general work of tho Church throughout tho circuit was in a very satisfactory state.
