The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's steamer Arawa from London, via way ports, arrived in tho stream about 8 a.m. yesterday. Pratique .was granted, and two hours later the vessel berthed at tho Queen's Wharf. Tho Arawa loft London on August 22, and Plymouth on August 24. She experienced lino weather in passing through tho Bay of Biscay, and arrived at and departed from Tcnerifio on August 29. Head winds, with head seas, were encountered in tho voyage to the Cape, which was reached on September 14. The Arawa left the next day after taking bunker coal. In running the easting down, continuous south-westerly gales, accompanied by heavy seas, wore experienced, until, arrival, at Ifobart on October 5. Some. 300 tons of cargo were discharged there, and tho Arawa resumed her voyage. Tho fine weather conditions: which prevailed across the Tasman Sea. terminated on Tuesday, when a-strong northeasterly wind was met with. She passed Cape Farewell. at 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company has received advico by cable of tho Waimate's departure from London for Brisbane, on October 1. , The Kennedy, is expected to arrive today with a cargo of coal from Puponga. The Defender is to leave for Knramea, to-day, to load timber for Wellington. Tho Union Company's steamer Kotuku arrived at Greymouth at 10' a.m. vestcrday, and was expected to leave again for Wellington in tho evening. Mr. George Wilkinson, late second mate of the Putiki, has signed-on the Blenheim as first mate, vice Mr. J. Croker, who died suddenly last Tuesday. The Putiki is expected 'to conie off the Slip to-morrow. The Oreti is to berth alongside tho Maori to load explosives for tho West Coast. ■ ...-.- Cable news from London received at Sydney last week states that the I'ourmasted barque Dundonald, which sailed from Sydney for falmonth, with 32,000 bags of wheat shipped by Messrs.
