Mr and Mrs A. Bell, who were in Dunedin for a few days last week, returned to Cromwell on Wednesday. Mr a;id Mrs Gerald Benson, Dunedin, have been spending a few days as the guests of Mr and Mrs J. R. Benson, Cromwell. Mr J. B. McKinlay, Lawrence, was in Cromwell for a few days last week. Mrs B>. E. Austin, who spent a few days in Dunedin last week, returned to Cromwell on Wednesday. Mrs Barron and her two small sons, Invercargill, are spending a holiday in Cromwell as the guests of Mr and Mrs Alastair Duthie. Mrs Bishop, Anderson’s Bay, who has been spending a holiday on a visit to her daughters, Mrs W. Hotop and Mrs Scrymgcour, Cromwell, left on Wednesday on her return. Mr N. E. Jolly and Mr D. Jolly left Cromwell on Saturday tor Morton where they' intend spending portion of their annual holidays. Mrs H. L. Davis, Melbourne, who has been spending a holiday as the guest of her sister. Mrs A. Crombie, Bannockburn, left on her return journey to-day'. Mr A. B. Cottee, who has boon Headmaster of tlie Cromwell District High School for the past three years, has received advice that ho has been approved for the position of Headmaster of the Kaiapoi school. Mr Cottee expects to leave for his new appointment about the end of the month. Mr Claude Crombie, of the Railway Department, Dunedin, who has been spending bis annual holidays on a visit to his parents, Mr and Mrs A. Crombie, Bannockburn, returned to Dunedin roday.
Mr Neil Gray, Lowburn Ferry, left on Saturday morning tor Wellington where ho has received an appointment as Junior Clerk in the Government Buildings. Miss Joyce Pringle, who iias been on the staff of the Cromwell District High School for the past five ana a-half years, has received an appointment at tho Hawarden school, and lett last week-end to take up her new position. During- nor term at the local school, Miss Pringle lias proven herself a very capable and conscientious teacher and her many 1 minds whilst regretting her departure, will extend best wishes lor her Inline success. On Thursday afternoon Miss Pringle was entertained by the members of the School staff at afternoon tea. Mr Cottee eulogised Miss Pringle’s services and on behalf of the staff presented her with a pair of China book-ends. On behalf of the pupils, Master Allan Rattray presentjed Miss Pringle with an Eiderdown Quilt.
