Mr Joe Bourke, the second in command and business manager, in proposing the toast of the health of their guest, said that the gang- were very sorry to loose the services of suc-h an efficient member and that the relations between all members of the gang had been most amicable. He said that it was his pleasant duty to make a presentation to Mr Gilder and this took the form of a well-filled wallet. Mr Gilder, who seemed quite overcome, resoonded and thanked those present for their kind thoughts of him. Items were given by Mr T. O'Shea, who rendered "Will ye no come back again." most appropriately. Mr Jack Bates sanjr "Work for the night is coming," the falsetto part being taken by Mr McLeod. Messrs kittle and Bourke gave a elog dance which was received by the company with much applause. A very pleasant evening was brought to a close bv the singing of "For he's » jolly irood fellow." the leader being Mr Giles. It is understood that Mr Gilder's; promotion is due to his invention of a new explosive. An experiment in privat" w:is made some time ayo ;\t whirh Mr Mee was present, and to quote Mr Mpp's own words "Telly was not in it." However, this remaius to be proved.
