Football.

Representatives of Queensberry and Lowbarn are to meet at Cromwell on Saturday next, in a game which is to decide the premiership between the two teams. Twice this season they have met, and in each ease the result has been a draw. In arranging a final, after the last engagement at Queensberry, a suggestion to play at Cromwell in aid of an engine for the eleetrielighting plant at the Cromwell hospital, was readily accepted, and we are told that the only additional condition on this occasion is “ one to win,” Both sides are organising strong forces and are hard at work. A traveller tells us that (Queensberry are in solid training, by the light of the moon, and the popular-host of Queensberry has the boys well tutored in the finer points of the game. Lovvburii, too, are indulging in some training. It is certain to prove an interesting contest, and we trust the public will appreciate the cause, and the trouble the players are going to in meeting at Cromwell, by patronising the fixture. Admission is by silver coin (“none too large”), and every pound raised will earn a Government subsidy of 245. The Cromwell Baud lias ollered to render selections during the afternoon, and in the evening a dance will be held in the Athemviuu Hall, commencing 7.45 sharp. In regard to the cause it might be mentioned that the electric-lighting plant at the hospital, controlled by water power, might, by a storm, be suddenly out of! at a Lime when it is urgently required, and by making the provision sought the appointments at this valuable institution will be enhanced.

Presbyterian Church Services for Sunlay next will be conducted as follows: Cromwell II a.m. and 7 p.m., Rev. W. P. Rankin ; Bendigo 11 a.m , Lowburn 3 p.m . Bannockburn 7 p.m., Mr Thos Twecdie, of Knox College, Dunedin. Mr Twecdie is to be stationed iu Cromwell, as assistant to Rev Rankin, for some months.
