Presbyterian Church,
The Anniversary Social of the Cromwell Presbyterian Church, held in the Athomeum Hall on Saturday, Ith inst., was very largely attended. The social this year was arranged in connection with the visit of the Right Rev, Gray-Dixon, Moderator, who was present. Rev. W. P. Rankin was chairman for the evening. After his opening remarks a varied and attractive programme was presented, the items rendered being as follows: Anthems, choir : songs, Mrs J. Richards, Miss Preece, Messrs Clark, Richards, Brookes, and Roseveare ; duet, Misses M‘Donald ; pianoforte solo, Miss Robertson : concertina solo, Mr Betts ; violin ,so!o, Mr iSnnley ; recitation, Mr J. To wan. The items were well received, encores being the order throughout. The Moderator addressed the audience, referring specially to church matters, and therein congratulated the Cromwell congregatioifon their line building. Before the close of the function, supper, supplied in abundance by the ladies, was handed round, and terminated a highly successful evening.
The Court sits at Croimvell ou Thorsday next at 9.30 a.m. It is rumoured that several landowness will appear at the instance of the Department for failing to satisfactorily destroy rabbits on their property. Bannockburn residents : Don’t forget that meeting on Saturday night to form a bowling and tennis club.
