A North Canterbury farmer lias made a bad mark against the starling's name. He says that it is very destructive to the humble-bees, and in a reason destroys large numbers of the insects. Watching a pair of starlings through glasses one day recently, he saw them systematically catching humble-bees and taking tliem to the young birds in the nests. The Methodist church services for Sunday next will be couducted as follows :- Cromwell 11 a.m, and 7 p.m, Jjowburn 3 p.m. Mr W. Watson, Banpockburu 7 p.m, Mr Gibbs.
