Dredging and Mining.
The Dredgenraster of the Rising Sun reports as follows for the week ending May sth : Dredged 133 hours. Worked the east side of the cut only as the drift is running badly in the river. The bottom is very uneven, and prospects are unchanged. Machinery running well. The river rose considerably last week again, and is now at a high level. Warm rain has melted a lot of the snow that fell, and the Lake is now about the six feet level, so it will take some time to fall low enough for the Gorge dredges. There is very little to report this week as the high river has interfered with the dredging on the Clutha, and the Revival had to stop, as they could not bottom. Rise and Shine has declared a Is dividend, payable on Friday. The No. 1 Shine is on rich ground now, and this company should put out regular dividends for some time. DREDGING RETURNS.
