Domain Board.
A special meeting of the above was held on Tuesday uitht li>at in the Council Chain bete. Present —Messrs Munoll (chairman), Can, 01'»8, Koes, B<-tt.<s *nd R'ohttnJfc. Tha following ia the annual n-pott for the voir ending Slat December, 1904: •'The greater part of tliia atea has for some yoars been covered with wand, which haw the tendency to drift into the borough. The council, which is the Domain Board, has, in years paat, i-pant » considerable nuuj of money in planting trees and erecting scrub fences to try and prevent this sand drift. During the year £ll 8s 6J has been expended on the exteution of this work, which lies been authorised by the Borough Council, and may be looked upon aa a grant trom that body. It is the Board's intention this year to extend the work of tree planting and erection of sand barrier*. The extent of work done will depend upon the amount of money at the Board's disposal. Jt has to rclie solely on grants received from the council:*nd Public Work's Department, as it has no revenue of its own. The permanent improvement consists of about 2 acreH, whicli ia planted with trees, Ik miles of scrub fences and I mile Iron Standard and wire fencing. The CVledonim Society has gone to the expense of erecting a pavilion, fixing up a track for foot racing, etc., in return the Socio y have been yranted the use of the ground for holding their aunual demonstrations. Thanks are due to many of the ratepayers who placed several iron and wooden seats in th<) The Board propose to extend the tree planting and irrigation works, and they estimate the coat at £lO.
