With 10 men dead and IS wounded, and their ammunition almost exhausted, the survivors at last surrendered. DUPES OF GERMANY. LONDON, May 11. The Daily Express states that there is ample evidence that the leaders of the rebellion were duped by Germany. Assisted by German gold, they aimed at seizing the Government, and killing or subjugating the Loyalists by means of an ever-increasing; rebel army until Germany could take over Ireland. The German navy, however, only made a fainthearted raid on Yarmouth, and the result w;is a failure. TROOPS THANKED. (HONERAL iM AX WELL'S PRAISE. LONDON, May ;>. General Maxwell has thanked the officers and troops for their splendid behaviour in Dublin, lie expressed himself especially grateful to those Irish regiments which had men killed in crushing the rising. The general expresses particular admiration for a small detachment of the Sixth Reserves, convoying ammunition, who were attacked in Charles .Street, and after a fine defence extending over three and a-hatf days, during which their leaders were struck down, safely delivered the ammunition. FOOD COMMISSION. DANGERS OF DISTRIBUTION. LONDON, May 3. The Times' correspondent has been informed that a Food Commission has beeu appointed. The principal members are Sir Henry Robinson and Sir Horace Pluukett. The commission is meeting daily at the Castle. The commissioners have taken some risk. Sir Horace Plunkett's party, travelling in two motor cars, came under fire on Saturday. Sir Horace marvellously escaped, but his nephew, Mr Thomas Ponsonby, was seriously wounded, lie is, however, doing well. Sir Horace Pluukett told the pressman that there is plenty of food in Dublin. The only ijuestion is its distribution. FIELD COURT-MARTIAL. LONDON, May i l ,. The Irish rebels are beiug tried by a field court-martial, under the Defence of the Realm Act. When the sentences have been confirmed the public will be informed. The rebels whose cases eaunot be taken immediately will be sent to England. The cases of women are beingconsidered.
