FOOTBALL.
Crescent IF. beat Clutha LI. at Balclutha on Saturday by 6 points to 3. The game was open and fast—too fast for the untrained Clutha men, all of whom shortly after the kick-off threw out signs of bellow to mend. Crescent's score was made from two tries from forward rushes, and Clutha's from a goal by A. White from a mark smartly taken by T. Maker towards the finish. Milton Cadets —a smart lot of boys—beat Owaka Cadets at Balclutha by 14 points to nil. Two senior matches will be played next Saturday—Milton v. Clutha, at Balclutha, and Crescent v. Clinton at Kaitangata. The Kaitaiigata footballers (soccer) were defeated by Mornington A. on Saturday to the tune of 4 goals to 1. Our team are satisfied that the town men richly deserved their win, as they simply ran rings round the local team, who played for all they were worth. Mr James Rarity, when questioned upon the game, paid a very high compliment to tbe Mornington players, who, he smilingly said, did whatever they liked with us, and try as we would we couldn.'t stop them.—Ka'itangata Correspondent. The All Blacks commenced their Australian tour on Saturday, when they beat the New South Wales team by 2_7 points to 6.
