BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
At a meeting of the executive of the Chit ha electorate branch of the Bible- i in Schools League, representing the , Methodist, Salvation Army, Presbpterian and Anglican communities, held at Balclutha on July 10, it was resolved: : "That appreciation be expressed of the action of the Government in introduc- ; ing the Referendum Bill asked for by i the League. That the member for the district be respectfully but strongly | urged to support by his vote the wishes of so many of his constituents, who do- ; sire that the whole people, whether • opponents or supporters of the League's ; proposals, shall have the opportunity I of giving a direct vote thereon at the ballot.box at the next General election; ; and this meeting expresses the opinion ; that by taking this course encrdach- j meat of this subject upon the [political arena will bo avoided." I
