Blair met at their residence on Wednesday, August 30th, and gave them a hearty welcome on their return from their honeymoon. A pery pleasant evening was spent and various games were indulged in. Songs were given by Mesdames List and Blair, Misses Burns and Haggart, and Messrs Neil, Ferguson, Falkncr, Miller, (Burns, Pope and Blair. The evergreen Fred. Jones gave a recitation in his usual pleasant way. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr \V. Spenuc.rnusic being supplied by Mr List and Sam Purvis. Mr Pope on behalf of those present, thanked Mr and Mrs Blair for the pleasant evening, wishing them loriglifo and happiness. A most enjoyable evening was brought to a close -.with three cheers for Mr aind Mrs Bla'ifV and the National Anthem. Pukepito :—Hull's new living pictures paid a return visit to Pukepito on Tuesday, Sept. '6th, and showed in tho school house to a large and appreciative audience. Moving picture shows are now so popular with young people as well as their elders that that tho | proprietors have great need to exercise care as to the class of picture they exhibit and this is particularly the case with regard to Mr Hull, who always takes special care in selecting his films, Those shown here speak ! volumes as to machine, pictures, and ! selection. Among the most interest,mg pictures of a very good lot were , the Coronation, Belgium Carbineers, Cotton Industry and a host of others. | \entnloquial dolls are always a source of amusement and some of the local hits were very good. Altogether the entertainment is run on first class hues and, with never a dull moment, can compare lavourably with any pie- ! lure shows in any of the centres. Mr iltull is to return here in a few months I time and he may be assured of a i bumper house. I Awamangu :-A very enjoyable time was spent, on Tuesday evening last, bept. nth mst, at the residence of Mr .Jl-illiam Taggart, Mr Taggart who bas been rabbit carting this season throughout Hillend, Greenfield and Awamangu, gave a social evening to the trappers and their friends. Dm--mg the evening singing and dancing buted by Messrs Neil, Ferguson, W. ; laggart. W. Pope, J. Taggart and a splendid comic by Jack Burns. This gentleman touched on'various matters , comparing the trapper to a cookie, the originality of the son* being very good. Recitations were given by Messrs "VV. Sparks, Fred. Jones, Sam Purvis and H. Craig. The music for the dance was sunplicd by Messss Purvis and Cottrell, and * the duties ol 31.C. were ably carried out by Mr R, j List. Many erf those present spoke oi ; the interest Mr Taggart had always ' t taken in his work, doing his duty tc the buyer and trapper alike. A most enjoyable function was brought to a close by the company singing "Auld Lang Syne."
