AWAMANGU SCHOOL.
CONCKRT AND DANCE.
A most successful concert and dance was l, e | c i i n the Awamangtt school on Friday evening in aid of the school funds. There was a record attendance of visitors from Greenfield, Pukepito, and Hiilend, with the result that the school was packed to the doors. Mr Craig, chairman of the school committee, presided, and in his opening remarks thanked them all heartily for their attendance.
A very good programme was submitted as follows :—Song, Mr Pope ; song, Mrs D. Henderson : song, Mr j! Parker; song, Miss Taggart; song, MiFerguson ; recitation, Mi- Miller : song Mr J. Hardy; song. Miss J. Taggart; song, Mr Winglield : song, Mrs Woods ; sonh, Mr Shin : song, Miss Parker ; song, ■ Mrs Craighead. Miss Begg played the accompaniments. A sumptuous, supply of tea and cake was handed round by the ladies.
When all had partaken of the good things provided, the floor was cleared for dancing. Mr Purvis supplied the music and Mr A. Thomson officiated as M.C. in his usual able manner. Dancing was indulged in till an early hour, when one of the most enjoyable evening ever held in the district ' was brought to a close. Our correspondent adds : The committee consisting of Messrs W. Craig (chairman), G. Steel (secretary), J. Morrison, I). Cook. J. Burns, D. Henderson and J. Parker are to be congratulated on their untiring efforts in connection with the concert and dance, it being the unanimous opinion of all present that it was the best entertainment ever held here.
