MR RAMAC.rS NKW BRICK » BUILDING. Mr John Ramage is calling for tenders in this issue for the purchase for removal of his present buildings in Clyde Street., and for the erection on the site of a two storey brick building. The building to be erected has a 1 frontage to Clyde Street of 33ft, and extends back 60ft, the front portion, 30 ft x 33ft. being of two storeys, and the back portion, a workroom, of a similar size one storey. The ground floor in front will consist of shop and office, with side entrance 6l't wide to work room, and stair entrance to second floor. The latter consists of a suite of rooms for Mr Anderson, dentist, and comprises waiting room and surgery in front, and at the back, divided by a passage, 'retiring room, work room, store closet, etc. A gangway over Mr Ramage's workshop, lead-'* ing to the ground level, provides a back entrance. These rooms have bt;en designed to Mr Anderson's special order. The front of the building has an attractive appearance. There is a "bull-nosed" verandah with iron pillars, a large plate-glass shop front, 12ft by Bft (two pieces), with Murinese squares above. In the dentistry rooms arc two large windows (Bft by 7ft) four sashes each. The ceiling of the ground floor is 12ft high, while that of the second floor is 10 feet; the "height from pavement to top in front is 30ft. A parapet runs right round the outer walls. Altogether building will prove a worthy addition to the brick buildings in the main street, and Mr Ramage is to be commended for his enterprise in keeping abreast of the progress of the town.
