CLINTON NOTES.
, (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Clinton school committee lias deckled to break up the school at midday on the lath inst and to hold' sports the same afternoon on the recreation grounds, for the purpose of raising prize money, it being understood that children will be admitted free. Without something of the kbui there would be no money available, for prizes. i Mr Jas. Begg, of Willowburn, has forwarded a donation of two pounds towards the school prize funds*. 'Jliat wo have some people with, the welfare of the school children at heart, is evinced by Mr Bego's donation., and also by Mr Richard Irving's generous offer to present all liie s<-i,.•,-,.■ -hil'dren with a free ticket to the Con- show. Several other well-known citizens are contributing prizes which will be distributed at the sports on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. lath. The origin of (he lire on Sunday morning still remains unsolved and nobody apparently knows who blew the whistle of alarm.
