AN IMPORTANT EVENT.
The congregations of Puerua and Port. Molyneux are making arrangements for the celebration of their jubilee, which occur* on 19th of this year. On that day it will bo exactly 50 years since the first church service in the Clutha district was held, Tim preacher ww the Rev. Wil-
liam Bannerman. The, church, for the time b?j!ig, wus the house of Mr Geo. Hay, father of Mr) William Hay, of Hilly Park, The congregation was small, but it included names which will long be household words in our district, and a particular interest wus given to the occasion by the baptism of the first while girl born in South Clutha, Helen Hav, now Mrs Peter Miller, of Duuedin. The celebration will include special services and the observance of the Lord's Supper on Sabbath, March '2oth, and a public meeting on the Tuesday following. The Sabbath services will be conducted by !)r Watt and Mr Dairy mule. A number of " old identities," including Mr Thomson, M.H.K., and Mr A. ('• Ihgg, have signified their intention to be present at the meetings, ancl on the Tuesday evening a number of interesting reminiscenses will no doubt be forthcoming. The Clutha Presbytery will)be invited. In order to give the older folks who do not care foliate hours an opportunity to meet each other and the. visitors, there will he a gathering on the Tuesday afternoon in the grounds of the Puerua Church. If the elements prove favourable we may look forward to an interesting and stirring time.
