MR TYSONS MILLIONS.

. ■ ♦- ■■ — . One of the Erisco papers brought by the last mail contains a picture of a young lady named Elsie Tyson, who is said to be a niece of the late Mr Tyson 1 and his sole heir. A whole page fc given over to ilustrations and a description of the youtijT lady, her previous i occupation, and her connection with J the deceased. The headings are, of ! 30urse sensational They are : — " California girl is heiress to nearly ten million dollars,' c She is an orphan and was feeding her chickens on a fountain farm when the lawyer searching for her brought the news from Australia,' ' Says the big fortune has brought her unhappiness, because sbe never felt so lonely before." Miss Tyson is represented as having been suddenly transformed from her humble mountain home where feeding chickens was a congenial employment, to an ' elegant home surrounded by every luxurj, wifch every want supplied.' The lawyer who found her is named Wilson, and it is said he went prepared to take, away the heiress in proper style. * Here's a little to start with,' he is reported to have said as he emptied a mon»y belt on the rough kitchen table. * Ten thousand dollars,' he continued. ' I guess that will last until you get to San Francisco, where we can get connection with the bank of England, so I can identify you, and arrange it so you can write cheques for any amount you wigh. You arc indeed a fortunate girl.' It was then arranged that Miss Tyson should stay at the home of the lawyer's relatives until ' the final proofs were made, and she would be sole mistress over one of the largest estates in Australia.' A few days- after this arrangement was carried ont, the heiress is reported as speaking scornfully of money. Referring to her newlyacquired wealth, she said, « It will not buy my dear old white hen ; ifc will not buy living beings that lovr you. I would just like to hold the old white hen in my hand, and press its soft down against my cheek. No, money will not buy that feeling.' Miss Tyson is said to be the daughter of Mr Thomas Tyson, a brother of fche deceased millionaire. The whole story might well be the production of some Californian roraaneer, but certain details which are given seem to invest it with an air of reality.
