An Italian warship compelled Turkey to apologise for the seizure of two Italian vessels in the Bed Sea, The .Turkish authorities had alleged that these vessels were carrying contraband goods. The captain of tbe crusier threatened to bombard Mocha, an Arabian seaport.
The Americans have received another severe reverse at the Phillipines. A battalion was ambuscaded at Dazmarinas. After an hour's desperate fighting, and when the ammunition was nearly exhausted, reinforcements drove off the Filipinos and rescued the battalion. There were 40 casualities on the American side.
The Cape Government have sent artillery and a large quantity of munitions of war to Kimberley.
