CLUTHA ROAD BOARD.
This Board mot at Wavepa ori Saturday. There were present Messrs Dalgleish (chairman), Christie, M'TSTeil, Monfries, and Sarginson. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved of. , , ■ ' The Clerk intimated jjthat LlO 5s 6d had been placed to the credit of the Board by the Treasury as part of the Cbnnty' Council funds. The Clerk submitted an .account of '■ Messrs Sievwright and Stout's expenses in re Mosley v. Road Board, amounting to Ll7 Is Bd. On ihe account being- read over," several item's' .were objected to, and the Clerk was instructed to write to Messrs Sievwright and Stout for an explanation The Clerk read a letter from Mr G-eorge Scott, asking the Board to express their knowledge of the roads through the Waitepeka Station having been closed and their acquiescence in the Government Crown-granting them in exchange for the roadlines now in use.- -The request was agreed to. . • • .. - - • I!.' 1 " Mr Dalgliesh reported that as requested a,t last meeting he. had interviewed Messrs Ayson and Dabiriett, and that Mr Ayson was willing to give . 20ft through section 43, and lift down to Major's road in liexi "f all claims the Board might, have for a roadline through sections 43 and 21, and that Mr Dabinett was willing to give 20ft through sectton 43 gratuitously and for the remainder as much as the Board might require at a fair valuation. After discussion, Mr Dalgleish's report was .unanimously adopted, and the Clerk was instructed to reduce, the terms to writing so that the signatures of the consenting parties might be obtained and ;the surveyor sent to the spot with-' out delay.- ■ The reported that the railway fence at -Riverside' road Invertiel wovtld require to, be continued much' farther if the safety of the public were to be secured. The Clerk was instructed to write Mr Blair to ask hinV to continue the work from the, point, where it had been left off. The Engineer also recommended, that. the. "Board execute ; the ; following works :— -Major's road, metalling (10 chains), and formation' (4 chains) ; Lawsori's bridge," repairs on. culvert and ' embankment ; Dr Manning's . bridges, ■ « repairs, <&c. ; Major's road (Sheddan's gate to Young's), ; .cuttings arid metalling'; '-Begg's' Hill, repairs ; 'Cemetery Hill, cuttings and. metalling;, White J?lat, formation anYl.tmetalling ; Shaw's track and 'road to station at Falconer's, cuttings and metal-ling--the probable cost of the whole being'about L 370. -' .■•.,-.,.-"•-.-' '■■"■■■ •■• - :■• The Engineer's report was adopted/ and he was instructed to call for , tenders, for the^mpst .important of the above works' before the next meeting of the Board., ..•--■» - ;;5 ; -.' -; .■ '• ■■- •'•■ : ; The Board adjourned till the third Saturday ,of Octobers . - --..A ■^k.J.':^J^ELjl. : '' "' ' ' ' ',' ' f
