MOUNT STUART ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Mount Stuart Road Board was held at the Board's Office, Glenore, on the 18 th inst.

There were present : Mr Henry Clark. (Cjiairman), and Messrs Kerr, Hodgson, Miller, and Cameron. ,

The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.

A deputation from the Balmoral Road Board waited on the Board to arrange the proposed , new. boundaries between the districts, and recommended that tlie district road leading from Oswald, to Mouiib Stuart bo the boundary of block 1X.,, Waitahuua East .District, then along the northern boundary of said block to Waitahuria River. . . -■■-...* A letter was read from, settlers in block ~&.I., Wai**.ahuna East District, asking to bo annexed to tbe Mount Stuart Road District, as the road that they used lay .in that district, and as they, were to be included in the proposed extension of road district-:), they wanted to pay rates fo the Board whose roads they used. It was pointed out by some members that the district road would make a, more suitable boundary, . and Mr Kerr moved that the memorial be refused". ■ Seconded by Mr Hodgson. . Mr Miller moved an amendment, that the memorial be agreed to. Seconded by Mr Cameron. The votes being equal, the. Chairman declined to decide the matter till further information was got ■ on^ the subject, a_s the Chairman of the, Balmoral Eoad. -Board said that .the settlers referred to used the rpads in the Balmoral . district as niuch as the Mount Stuart district.

Mr Kerr moved that Mr ; Miller be. appointed a member df a l^ deputation, to go with a member of tlie' Balmoral Rpad Board to meet with the local committee of the proposed Waitahmia road district, to arrange the boundaries between the respective districts. Mr Miller moved that the whole Board resolve itself into a Committee to examine the roads and make up an estimate of the works to bo done, before fixing the rate. Seconded, by Mr Cameron, ahd agreed to. Resolved that the Committee meet at Rotten Valley on Saturday, 23rd September, at 10 a.m.
