"WAIT A WHILE."
Be honest in your dealings, Be just with friend and foe, And you will gather true respect, As through the world you go.Tho knave may thrive and flourish, And his f ellowraen beguile, •But honesty *frill triumph, If you only " wait a while."
If you've trouble on your brow, And sorrow in your heart, Resolve tobear it like a man, Although the wound may smart. 'Tis folly to give way to grief, And wiser 'tis to smile : A better day will dawn, my friend, If you but " wait a while."
If you should meet reverses, That help to weigh you dowD, And fortune like a fickle jade, "Upon you casts hor frown : Don't give up heart, but persevere, She yet again may smile ; Her former favors may return, If you but *' wait a while."
If friends should cast you from thorn, It would be nothing now : The hollow ones like swallows fly, When troubles you pursue. Then thank your stars that you are quit, Of such as would beguile, And better friends you will obtain, If you but " wait a while."
When poverty and trouble come, 'Tis vain to fret and mope, But show yourself a man of strength, That can- with sorrows cope j . Though you may suffer grief to-day, . T-morrow you may smile; The darkest night' will have an end, If you but—" wait a while." J. W. B,
