AUCTION SALES.
B. Grigor (Balclutha) disposed of the following for Mr K. Robson, Whitelea, on Friday last.:— 66 merino full-mouthed ewes, 5s 9d ; 37 do do, 2s 3d ; 200 oross-bred lambs, at from 8s 3d to 8s Od ; 17 do do, 9s. Bay mare. Blossom, £54 -, black mare, Maggie, £54 ; bay colt, £49 ; and 12 more broken and young draughts and light harness, £10 to £38. Horse-power and chaff-cutter, £28 ss ; double-fur-row plough, £25 15s ; and a large quantity, of agricultural implements fetched good prices. The; attendance was large, settlers from Tokomairlro, Taieri, and Tuapetfa being- present. The biddingthroughout was spirited.— He sold privately, on account of Messrs Begg Bros.. Hillend Station, 300 crossbred 2 to 6-tooth ewes at 11b. Capsttck Duthie and Co. (Tokoraairiro) report the following sales :— At the yards, Tokomairiro :— Sheep: 105 merino ewes, at 8s; 57 merino wethers, at 8s ; 202 cross-bred wethers, at 11s: 51 crossbred ewes, at 9s 6d, and 2 rams, at 30s each. Cattle.— 3 two-year old taeiiers, at £0 4s; and 4, yearlings, at £2 10s each. Horses.— Four light hacks, averaging £15 15s each and one 2-year old colt, by Glengary for £28. Cattle.— Ayshire cow and heifer in calf at £6 158 each ; crossbred heifer in calf, £11 ; three dry store cows, averaging £5 5s each. •Sheep.— 33 three-quarter bred ewes, 13s 6a ; 20 two-tooth three-fourths bred ewes, at 17s ; 20 lambs at lls ;' 115 crossbred two-tooth -wethers, at 9s 9d ; 8 culls, 6a ; 66 merino ewes (dry), ss ; 90 crossbred ewes, at 9s ; 37 crossbred lambs, at 7s 6d ; 50 Leicester lambs, mixed sexes, at Us ; 5 crossbred ewes, 9s 4d ;• 40 crossbred ewes, at I4g ; 5 crossbred ewes, at 10s ; 23 three-quarter bred ewes, at 15a 6d ; 141 cross-bred lambs, itfc 8s sd ; 178 cross-bred lambs (calls), at 6n lOd each. . . At the Waiwera Yards— Sheep.— 27Bo merino ewes, from 4s 3d to 4s 9d each, * * " ' Our private sales have been :— soo cross-bred ewes (old), at 10s 6d; 2300 cross-bred 4-tooth wetherß, at 13s each. . . Cattle. -There appears to be a little falling off in prices for stores ; as grass is getting scarce, feeders requiring for stall feeding are shy of operating at present. Sheep. — Crossbreds, ranging from 4 to 8-tooth (full-conditioned), are in demand for turnip feeding:, buyers keeping shy of any lots that are in low condition. Good merino ewes, 8-tooth, are still in demand, bnt must be large-framed, strong, and healthy sheep ; broken-mouthed sheep will not sell at any price.
