SALE OF VALUABLE STOCK.
The whole of the valuable stock belonging to the Hon. Matthew Holmes, Awamoa Station, was submitted to auction by Messrs Wnght, btephenson, and Co. on Thursday last. The attendance was large aud the bidding spirited. The sale commenced with Lot l-Gipsy, a line very draught mare, which was knocked down at 60 guineas. Lot 2— Bay mare Lady, was Knocked down at 40 guineas. Lot 3-Diamond, at <J9 guineas. Lot 4-Pearl, chesnut mare, at !-8 guineas. Lot 5-Madam, bay mare, "t6sgs. Lot o-LadyHaddo, bay mare, at 7ous Lot f-Nannie, at 33gs. Lot 8-Jess, at 28gs. Lot 0-Georgina, a fine bay mare, at 80gs. LotlO-Lily, at 54?s Lot 12-at hi gn. Lot 13-Ruby, at 07gs. Lot 14-Gem at 64"8. Lot 15-Flower, at G9gs. Lotli-J^t m atlßgs° Lot n-Blossotn, at 40g 8 Lot 18-Bell, at 40«s. Lot 19 -Kate, 4Cgs. Most of the above mares were imported and they are al in foal to Clydesdale horse Duke of Buccleugh They also sold 2u Ciydesdale colts and fillies by Duke of Buccleugh, from 1 to 3 years old, at Irom 20 guineas to 05 guineas •, aud 2J light harness aud saddle colts aud allies, by Croydeu and skylark, at from 13 guineas to 28 gnineas each, The sale on the whole was a success. The sale ou Friday commenced with the red bull Stafford, by Father Christmas which was knocked down at I.sgs. The next a roan bull, Reynolds, OOgs. The rest of the bulls were passed iv. tbe bids obtai ed not coming up to Mr Holmes' uiandard of prices. The auctioneers next proceeded to the cows, the first one, Veronica Ist, was sod at 7 gs ; her sister, Veronica also at 70g8 ; Wallflower, at 4 ,gs ; Kosetta 2nd, at oOgs ; Dolly Varden, at s'Jgs ; Hose ot Victoria 2nd, 4ogs ; roau heifer, at 45g»; roan cow, Beautiful-for-ever, at COgs; red aud white cow. Crazy Kate, at 40gs; roan heifer Beautiful- for-ever 3rd. at 3ogs ; Rose of VictorfalW'B; Dolly Varden 3rd, 29gs ; Wallflower 7th, 20gs ; Cowslip 9t«, 51jm ; Butternut 23 gs; Mignonette 2nd, lsgs ; Ophelia, 34gs ; Double T> allflower 2nd, at -7ga ; Grace 4tU, at 2lgs They also Jold Several yeaTling buds by Don Carlos out of Mr Holmes' imported cows, at from 12 to Lgs. Also two bull calves by Don Carlos out of Jessamine mid Christmas Uose,at4lgs and 44*8 respectively. The Lincoln rams were a very fine lot, aud most of them were sold at from oto 1 gs. Oue, a splendid ram was bought at 41gs. One pen of Komney Marsh was sold C.gs each. There was not such good demand for Leu Testers, of which only a few were sold at from 11 to lii*B. One Leicester ram, the (Bream of the flock, brought 4 lgs.
