DUNEDIN IMPORT MARKET.

In the import market business has been somewhat quiet during the week, and few Bales of any note have come under our notice The only business transacted of any magnitude has been in sugar, cornsacks. fencing: wire, cement, galvanised Iron, kerosene oil, in ail of which holders are very firm at quotations. BreadstuflTs are in a very unsettled state at present, owing to the uncertainty at what price the new wheat will open in this market. Flour is only bought by tbe trade in quantities sufficient for their immediate requirements, and there is little or nothing doing- in the export orders from the Northern provinces. Present prices, £18 to £13 10s ; but it is expected that this quotation will be broken in the course of a week or 10 days. Wheat is much easier, and cannot be quoted much higher than 4s 8d to 4s 9d for prime samples. Second qualities are unsaleable at present. Oats are also much reduced in value, owing to the new crop being to hand. 3s was offered by a miller for a parcel of new, which the farmer c>uld not be induced to accept. Old oats are soiling in amall parcels at 4s, but there is very little buMuess doing at this figure. Cornsacks have been in good demand throughout the week, and the price generally obtained lias been 12s 3d per doz. lor parcels. The business in this particular line is likely to be considerable for some time, but the price has a tendency to be lower owing to the unfavorable advices to hand from Dundee. Sacks are advised very low in that market, and trade generally dull, which wi 1 no doubt cause manufacturers to make large consignments to the different colonial markets.
